Paper Shades sunglasses are designed to relieve the burden of waste produced by unrecycled plastic sunglasses that end up in landfills or our oceans.A 2017 study estimates that at current rates approximately 12 billion metric tonnes of plastic waste could be in landfills or the natural environment by 2050, which is about 35,000 times the weight of the Empire State Building (Science Advances). Plastic sunglasses contribute to this plastic waste epidemic with most used sunglasses also ending up in landfills or the environment. The stylish sunglasses by Paper Shades are eco-friendly and affordable, with frames made from recycled paper, which can biodegrade in the environment.
“We were tired of having to choose between fast fashion products that don’t last and luxury branded goods that are not affordable for the everyday person,” said James Chu, designer and founder of Paper Shades. “Paper Shades gives the consumer greater variety at more reasonable prices, protecting the environment, and supporting a fast fashion business model.”
The 2018 collection by Paper Shades is durable, lightweight and slim, making it easy to toss into your pocket or bag and carry it around all day. They are great for the beach, parties, festivals, and travel, allowing you to be fashionable with a conscience, without breaking the bank.
Paper Shades’ 2018 collection is available in 6 styles, including in black and light and dark cork, with a rounded or wayfarer shaped rim. They are ultra minimal, with some styles offering black or neon blue lenses, and all lenses offering UV400 protection as standard.
