Could Your Home Owner’s Insurance Be Dropped Because of Your Dog?

Santa Rosa, CA, 25 September 2014 -- There are a few common dog breeds that face discrimination by homeowners’ and renters’ insurance providers, based on a reputation for aggressive behavior. Animal RN embraces these dog breeds and is proud to announce a “Blacklisted Dog Party,” for blacklisted dog breeds and the people who love them. It will take place Saturday, October 25th from 11am-1pm at Frances Nielsen Park.

Insurance companies and some cities have discrimination built into legislation targeting specific dog breeds. This is becoming a more wide spread practiced, evidenced by responsible dog owners with well-behaved dogs suddenly getting dropped from their home insurance companies, without incident or warning, simply because they own a “blacklisted dog breed.” Families of these well-behaved blacklisted dogs breed are struggling to find any insurance due to the breed of dog he had.

These stories inspired Robyn Kesnow, Founder of Animal RN, to become a Canine Good Citizen (CGC) Evaluator with the AKC, and why Animal RN is hosting the Blacklisted Dog Party. Animal RN believes these breeds aren’t bad. With proper training, responsible pet parents can thrive and should be afforded the insurance available to mainstream breed owners.

This event will bring positive awareness to blacklisted breeds, offer CGC evaluations and connect blacklist pet parents with insurance company and pet care resources to keep their well-behaved blacklisted breed dog, or to welcome one into their home.

Activities at the event will include CGC evaluations, bobbing for hotdogs (for dogs only), as well as activities for the kids. There will be rescue information for lovers of blacklisted breeds and mixed breeds, as well as resources for blacklisted breeds, homeowners, and renters. This event will shed light on the important topic, and raise awareness for these dogs that often are discriminated against simply for their breeding.

Founded in 2007 by Robyn Kesnow, a California-state Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT), Animal RN is an organization that advocates for animals and partners with pet parents. The organization offers in-your-home pet care ranging from basic healthy dog/cat pet sitting to animal hospice and medical services. According to Animal RN, “Our mission is to advocate for animals first and foremost. Families are looking for support and assurance that their choices in pet care are the right choices for their pets.”

Join us Saturday, October 25th at 11am to celebrate Blacklisted Dogs and the people who love them. RSVP today to secure a set appointment time for the Canine Good Citizen Evaluation, 707.695.2500 xt. 0
