Santa Rosa, CA, 25 September 2014 -- There are a few common dog breeds that face discrimination by homeowners’ and renters’ insurance providers, based on a reputation for aggressive behavior. Animal RN embraces these dog breeds and is proud to announce a “Blacklisted Dog Party,” for blacklisted dog breeds and the people who love them. It will take place Saturday, October 25th from 11am-1pm at Frances Nielsen Park.

Insurance companies and some cities have discrimination built into legislation targeting specific dog breeds. This is becoming a more wide spread practiced, evidenced by responsible dog owners with well-behaved dogs suddenly getting dropped from their home insurance companies, without incident or warning, simply because they own a “blacklisted dog breed.” Families of these well-behaved blacklisted dogs breed are struggling to find any insurance due to the breed of dog he had.

These stories inspired Robyn Kesnow, Founder of Animal RN, to become a Canine Good Citizen (CGC) Evaluator with the AKC, and why Animal RN is hosting the Blacklisted Dog Party. Animal RN believes these breeds aren’t bad. With proper training, responsible pet parents can thrive and should be afforded the insurance available to mainstream breed owners.

This event will bring positive awareness to blacklisted breeds, offer CGC evaluations and connect blacklist pet parents with insurance company and pet care resources to keep their well-behaved blacklisted breed dog, or to welcome one into their home.

Activities at the event will include CGC evaluations, bobbing for hotdogs (for dogs only), as well as activities for the kids. There will be rescue information for lovers of blacklisted breeds and mixed breeds, as well as resources for blacklisted breeds, homeowners, and renters. This event will shed light on the important topic, and raise awareness for these dogs that often are discriminated against simply for their breeding.

Founded in 2007 by Robyn Kesnow, a California-state Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT), Animal RN is an organization that advocates for animals and partners with pet parents. The organization offers in-your-home pet care ranging from basic healthy dog/cat pet sitting to animal hospice and medical services. According to Animal RN, “Our mission is to advocate for animals first and foremost. Families are looking for support and assurance that their choices in pet care are the right choices for their pets.”

Join us Saturday, October 25th at 11am to celebrate Blacklisted Dogs and the people who love them. RSVP today to secure a set appointment time for the Canine Good Citizen Evaluation, 707.695.2500 xt. 0

Las Vegas, NV - Who among us hasn’t looked down at the sad look of a dog when they’re asking for a hand-out otherwise known as a table scrap? One is hard-pressed to turn that kind of resourcefulness down. But studies show that indeed, dog lovers should resist the urge to share and keep it at a ten percent minimum. “At the time it feels mean to turn a dog away from something delicious.” said Jozsef Kovacs, Co-Owner of ChoosePuppy.com. “But keeping the sharing to ten percent of your dog’s overall diet is really best for them in the long run.”

No quarrel could be had for keeping attention focused on what’s both good and bad for a pet but many people are not informed as to what exactly that entails. “We want to be a resource for dog owners. In light of that some good table treats include vegetables like carrots, broccoli, cooked squash, zucchini and potatoes. Fruits like apples, melons and berries are good as well.” added Kovacs. Grains such as rice and plain pasta are also okay for a canine in addition to steak, chicken, turkey and hamburger all in small amounts. “Plain yogurt is also a healthy treat dogs enjoy.” said Kovacs.

The ChoosePuppy.com Co-Owner is careful to stipulate the “bad treats” dog owners tend to pass along to their best friends. Topping the toxic treats list are the following culprits - chocolate, onions, macadamia nuts, grapes and raisins. Interestingly enough, added to Kovac’s list is the not too widely publicized highly developed sweet tooth in dogs. He suggests that sweets of any kind, just like in humans, can promote cavities and obesity. Kovacs also suggests avoiding duck, pork, veal and venison because the meats are too fatty as are fried foods of any kind. Lastly, dogs should not be offered any meat with bones whether small or large as it may cause choking and throat damage.

Breeders are welcome to list dogs on the ChoosePuppy.com site as it is a great resource to find buyers worldwide for their specific breeds. Offering membership pricing ranging from $4.99 to $24.99 ChoosePuppy.com is a great resource for shelters and private persons as well. For more information visit www.choosepuppy.com.

One of the largest selections of Pet Supplies for Dogs, at the best prices, launched last Friday. The site is growing exponentially, and the Children’s items will follow in May. The site will remain loyal to the moms and grandmothers who are the chief providers of almost all of the fun things to do, neat outfits to wear, and good food to eat. They do what they do with love in their hearts, and the look on a child’s face or the wag of the dog’s tail is about all we need to keep up the pace.

The items carried are as simple as plain old dog food, to formal wear and Halloween costumes for your pup. We have sweaters to keep dogs warm, raincoats to keep out the wet, and boots for the ice and snow. Oh, and life jackets for those summer boating trips too.

There are carriers and kennels, gates and fences, and lots of toys to pull, squeak, fetch, or chew. Fido will love his new dog bed, his doggie steps or ramp, and a ride in his stroller or bike trailer. Put him in his backpack and away you both can go hiking in the woods or for a day outing around town.

To keep your dog healthy, there volumes of supplements, vitamins, and heart worm preventatives. You’ll find flea stoppers, tick killers, and prescription pet meds. There are ear washes, tooth brushes, and tooth paste too. And when the sun finally sets, we have puppy pajamas for you.

“We carry anything and everything you can possibly imagine for your dog, some things you probably didn’t even know existed. If you want, and we don’t have it, we will get it for you,” says Judy Culpepper, founder of Dogs ‘N Kids. She continued, “Our customers are the greatest, and we look forward to everyday we’re given.’
