With the last event being deemed a huge success with over thirty people showing up to learn CPR from trained professionals, the South Bay CPR Training Center and Babies-R-Us is extending the opportunity for anyone to learn CPR by hosting even more events. Classes are now being offered every two months on Sunday of every other month (March, May, July, September, November at Babies-R-Us, located at 20120 Hawthorne Blvd. Torrance, CA 90503.
This event is ideal for residents living in or around Torrance, Redondo Beach, Manhattan Beach, Palos Verdes, Lawndale, Gardena, Long Beach and any neighboring South Bay communities. No registration is required for the event at this time.
One attendee Susan Donnavan, commented about their experience regarding this free CPR event saying, "It's nice to have a local CPR company like South Bay CPR offering free training and classes for those of us who want to learn but are not in healthcare and don't need a CPR card."
South Bay CPR recognizes the need within the community for civilians to be trained and feel confident enough to implement CPR to those who may need it. “Being prepared as a parent or caretaker of an infant is crucial. This is why we’re happy to offer this free training to anyone who attends. Safety and security are our number one priority,” states Chris Hernandez.
It is estimated that an individual has an approximately eight to ten minute window for CPR to be performed from the point of heart or breathing failure. The average response time it takes for emergency vehicles to arrive on the scene is just around six minutes, as noted in a recent USA today article, and permanent brain damage begins after only 4 minutes without oxygen (U.S. National Library of Medicine ). It’s absolutely critical for those tending to infants and small children to know this life saving maneuver.
South Bay CPR Training Center is a training center in connection with the American Heart Association Certification Program. Unlike other training centers, South Bay focuses specifically on CPR programs that include Heartsaver CPR/AED & First Aid, as well as Basic Life Support (BLS) for healthcare professionals. Their mission is to promote emergency preparedness and confidence in the South Bay Community, and enable their students to have full mastery and understanding of each skill. Members of the community who engage in this training will know how to prepare, react and take action in emergency situations safely and confidently.
