Global Riot’s under the influence meets Studio 54 at Cafe Del Mar

Aug 25th, 2016 --This Sunday sees Global Riot take over Cafe Del Mar for a very special Studio 54 edition with the legendary Bert Bevans, a music producer and DJ who started his career in the early 70s at genre defining New York disco era spots including Studio 54 and The Paradise Garage. Having established himself firmly on the New York scene Bert then moved on across the pond to set up the iconic Ministry of Sound in London with Justin Berkmann. Today Bert has set up home in Thailand and despite living at a (slightly) slower pace, remains very active and influential in the music scene. We feel privileged to announce that Bert will grace Cafe Del Mar for a very exclusive sunset set this Sunday.

Global Riot is all about creating a revolution through music. Teaming up with Bert they are bringing the Paradise Garage/Studio 54 dream alive once more - a pivotal period where times of adversity from racial abuse and homophobia were diminished through unifying people in the expression and freedom of speech with music.

Also playing that night is a selection of emerging talent including DJ Ferry (Iran) and Correigh (UK). Like Bert, DJ Ferry also knows what it means to grow up in troubled times, where only music is the answer. In Iran (for obvious reasons) organising and playing at raves is illegal and a criminal offence. Despite this DJ Ferry has managed to establish himself as one of the country's most well known DJ's, an achievement which hasn't gone unnoticed by brands such as TAG, SONY & DIESEL all of whom have sponsored him for events and parties . This trip to Ibiza marks a defining moment in DJ Ferry's career and is testament to how a passion for music and good vibes can overcome all barriers and transcend all borders. DJ Ferry will also be debuting his already established record label Shibiza which has been named partly in homage to this magical Island, a place which has helped many other fellow Iranians such as Dubfire and Darius Syrossian also express their music.

The line up also includes Correigh who has been working with Global Riot to create this night at Cafe Del Mar with the nights name 'under the influence' coming directly from her latest EP which was launched last month. The upcoming female singer songwriter from the UK has certainly been making her mark this summer with her residency at Cafe Del Mar and playing alongside the likes of Francois K, Basement Jaxx and Osunlade. Correigh and her musicians The Hot Ice Collective will bring live music, vocalists and DJs together for a live show to get your night started. Deep City Soul and Janina T two island favourites will continue the night and take you on a musical journey until close.
